HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION

NEW ART UNION was created by the group of people who are interested in development and support of the democratic processes, Art and Culture in Georgia; and also to carry out projects support normal working conditions irrespective of the nationality and religious beliefs. The main concept of this group was the support of equality among different layers of society, particular among mentally handicapped children, women and disabled people. 

MISSION

NEW ART UNION (NGO) was established in 1998 (Tbilisi, Georgia) to serve as an advocate for Contemporary Art as a catalyst for the creation of significant art projects. We seek to nurture emerging and established, experimentation and education. NEW ART Union is interested in making reformations in cultural and art spaces. Out work is dedicated to fostering greater objectivity and professionalism in the field of Contemporary Art.

NEW ART Union sees its mission in:
- Educating and inspiring artists in new developments of the Contemporary Art;
- Developing new ideas and tendencies in the field of Contemporary Art, inside and outside of Georgia;
- Improving the ability of artists and conduct their independent activities;
- Give Job opportunities;
- Creating database of artists in Georgia;
- Promoting educational and training programs;
- Promoting the rights of artists;
- Building democratic and free market institution of Contemporary Art;
- Building strong partnerships;
- Facilitating trade and investment activities;
- Fulfilling the projects, which offer innovator conceptions, make structural changes in the   business interrelationships and contacts between individuals and government organizations.

AIMS

NEW ART Union aims:
-To support the development of different spheres of Art;
-To support the evolution of new ideas in Modern Art and to cultivate divers audiences;
-To develop the Contemporary Art branch and current cooperation with other groups and make   business advertisements in Georgia and abroad;
-To organize festivals, exhibitions, workshops and studio-laboratories;
-To unite Art workers in a big group;
-To represent Artists’ activities both inside and outside of Georgia;
-To create Georgian cultural – informational network in Internet. 

VISION

Georgia emerged from the break-up the Soviet Union, seeking to become part of the global community of nations. Nowadays, our country is engaged in difficult process of transition into a democratic society. New Art Union believes that such small countries, where economy is on the stage of transformation, are ready to be guided by their cultural traditions for the creation of the basis for economic growth. And, as a result, the organization New Art Union was established in order to help this process in the sphere of Art, culture and Education and to influence this through our projects.

New Art Union is concerned with promoting skills and vision, necessary to bring the greatest cultural art and educational benefits to individuals and their societies. The organization is ready to invest its resources (human and financial) to help artists become active participants in the cultural life of their community. The organization also works for eliminating the informational vacuum after Post-communist regime, for renewal of the contacts in the sphere of culture, for integration and popularization of Georgian Contemporary Art, for supporting the young creative potential, that will build tomorrow’s sector of culture. Cultural future of the nation-country depends on its creative present.
